HERE ARE SOME OF OUR FAVORITE SPOTS IN THE AREA IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR THINGS TO DO NEAR OUR WEDDING.
We will add links and more spots so check back later!
PLACES TO EAT IN GREENPOINT:
CAFE ALULA. One of our regular spots. Little casual Lebanese spot for breakfast and lunch. The hallumi and harissa egg breakfast sandwich is something special.
EAGLE TRADING. Also a regular since it’s on our block and great. Casual breakfast/lunch spot with good vegetarian options.
BAKERI. As the name might suggest, pretty phenomenal pastries and baked goods.
THREE DECKER DINER. Regular anywhere USA diner stuff, plus lots of it, plus cocktails and vegetarian options, at regular diner prices.
PAULIE GEE’S SLICE SHOP. Best place for a slice of pizza in Greenpoint, unless you can make it to San Antonio’s on a Friday.
PAULIE GEE’S. The fancier sit-down version of the above with more options.
POLISH FOOD. Greenpoint has a huge Polish population. Jeremy’s mom’s side rejoice: you can get all the classics from traditional to more hip interpretations. Some top spots are KARCZMA, RESTAURANT RELAX and POLKA DOT, but just Google Maps search in the neighborhood and there’s probably something good nearby.
SERENECO. Solid spot for brunch especially but any meal is good here. My favorite pancakes in the area!
SUNDAY IN BROOKLYN. Excellent Williamsburg brunch spot. Make a reservation.
LE FANFARE. Solid Italian spot in Greenpoint. Might not need a reservation even on weekends.
GLASSERIE. Good mediterranean. Whatever you do, get the griddle bread and labne.
NAMI NORI. Japanese hand-roll sushi taken up three notches. There’s lots of decent Japanese here, but this is special. Make a reservation.
DI AN DI. Good Vietnamese. The regular items, just a little better.
RULE OF THIRDS. Phenomenal Japanese spot for breakfast or dinner. Make a reservation.
OKONOMI. If you like ramen or Japanese breakfast, this place is special. Very tiny with about eight seats, so you need to make a reservation.
LA SUPERIOR. Tracy’s favorite taco spot. I like it too:)
TACOMBI. Can’t go wrong with this mexican spot with locations in Williamsburg, Fort Greene, and around the city.
DOS TOROS. Super casual fast burrito spot with good vegetarian options. In Williamsburg and around the city.
RADIO. This is a bakery. You will see the long lines. That’s for a reason. Get the sesame bread and shakshuka focaccia.
PETER PAN. Cute old-timey purveyor of donuts in Greenpoint.
PLACES TO EAT ELSEWHERE:
EVELINA. Italian spot in Fort Greene, where Jeremy used to live and a great walking around neighborhood. This is Tracy’s secret because while you still should get a reservation, it’s easy to get into and top-tier Italian at medium-tier prices. It’s probably better than Roman’s around the corner and much cheaper.
SUPERIORITY BURGER. Do you like vegetarian food? You need to go here. They don’t do reservations, but there is always a long line before they open at 5pm and it’s so worth it.
RUCOLA. Good Italian in Boerum Hill.
VIA CAROTA. Fancy Italian in the West Village, where you probably want to roam around anyway if you’re not from NYC.
THINGS TO DO:
DOMINO PARK. This is a great spot in Williamsburg to get the city view you want, people watch, and walk around. Have kids? The playground is special. Like tacos? They have those too.
TRANSMITTER PARK. This is a park. It’s in Greenpoint. We walk our dog here all the time. The view is crazy.
LITTLE ISLAND. This is a unique park on the west side of Manhattan and is something you need to do if you’re over there.
THE HIGH LINE. Walk this when you go to Little Island.
HUNTER’S POINT PARK. This is an early phase of the waterfront park thing so it’s well-developed and an EXCELLENT night walk if you have an 1-1.5 hours. We took a car to basically “Hunter’s Point South Kayak Ramp” and walked until we got tired. Incredible night views and great modern landscape architecture.
BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK or any of the Dumbo waterfront parks. See the Brooklyn Bridge from below, and get great postcard views of the Financial District.
ALAMO BROOKLYN OR NITEHAWK MOVIE THEATERS. Do you like arty or mainstream movies? Do you like food? Do you like drinks and doing all of these things together? This is for you if so.
NEUE GALLERY. Art!
NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM. If you have kids or not, it’s cool. See the New Wing and the gemstones and dinosaurs and all the stuff.
